Dr. Kai McSwain, M.H.A.

Kai McSwain, M.D., M.H.A., provides oversight of FMC’s cardiovascular, cancer, bariatric, surgical, imaging, laboratory, respiratory and telemedicine services and programs. Kai also oversees the Heart & Vascular Center of Northern Arizona and physicians (Flagstaff-based), Northern Arizona Homecare, Guardian Air and Guardian Medical Transport.

Prior to joining FMC, McSwain had more than 10 years of experience in healthcare management at Asante Health System in Medford, Ore., McSwain has overseen operations in the areas of surgical services, hospital operations, service line administration and clinical business development. While at Asante, he was instrumental in the development of several departments including oncology, orthopedics, bariatric services, maternal fetal medicine, emergency services, general/vascular surgery and cardiovascular services.

McSwain earned his Executive Masters of Healthcare Administration degree from the University of Washington, Seattle in 2006. He earned his Doctorate of Medicine from the Ross University School of Medicine, Edison, N.J. in 2002; McSwain earned Bachelors of Science in Chemistry from Seattle Pacific University, Seattle, Wash. in 1995 after graduating from the Mississippi School for Math and Science, Columbus, Miss. in 1991.
