Vice President Development Richard Smith

Richard A. Smith, Ed.D., is the NAH Vice President of Development and Marketing. Rick joined NAH as the FMC Vice President of Development in January 2008. He later became NAH Vice President of Development when he assumed responsibility for VVMC’s Foundation.

As part of his 20 years experience in leadership roles in higher education, Rick had oversight of marketing at two major universities. Additionally, he was responsible for marketing functions when he served as the national executive director for the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO).

Originally from Southern California, Rick moved to Flagstaff in the late 1960s.

He earned his bachelor’s in Physical Education and English, a master’s in Physical Education Administration, a secondary Principal/Superintendent certificate and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, all from Northern Arizona University (NAU). While working as the Athletic Department administrator at NAU in the 1990s, Rick founded NAU’s High Altitude Training.
