RETURN TO FMC BOARD MEMBERS

William Austin, M.D.

Dr. William Austin has a long history of serving the community through membership on both the FMC and NAH Boards of Directors. Most recently, he has served on the FMC Board since 2002 and was appointed to the NAH Board of Directors in 2008. In a previous appointment to the FMC board, he was the second physician to ever serve in that capacity, and he is a former FMC Medical Staff president.

He began his pediatric practice in Flagstaff in 1967. He retired from his practice in 2002, but continues as Medical Director of Flagstaff Medical Center's Children’s Rehabilitative Services.

Dr. Austin has degrees from Texas Christian University and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He performed a rotating internship in Albuquerque and a pediatric residency at the University of Oregon Medical School. He spent two years in the USPHS Division of Indian Health in Zuni, New Mexico. 

He has been involved with the Coconino County Medical Society, Coconino Board of Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield Board, Trinity Heights United Methodist Church, Grand Canyon Council Boy Scouts, Grand Canyon Association and AHCCCS Plan Board.
