Faith, a 10-year-old Flagstaff resident, has as much energy as any typical young girl. But, Faith is considered overweight and could be at risk for future health issues.
“As her mother, I want to do everything in my power to make sure Faith leads a healthy, active life,” said Vicki Kollinger, mother of three and Fit Kids of Arizona program participant. “However, it’s been difficult because Faith’s weight issues are believed to be hereditary.”
When Kollinger recently learned about Northern Arizona Healthcare’s Fit Kids of Arizona program, she jumped at the opportunity to find additional support for her daughter, including nutrition and exercise programs.
“With the help of Fit Kids, I am confident that Faith and our family as a whole will gain the tools and support we need to live a healthier lifestyle,” Kollinger said. “Faith is excited to learn about foods that taste good but still are healthy for her, as well as fun physical activities that hopefully stick with her into adulthood. We are committed as a family to ensuring we are healthy for life.”
