FMC’s Pulmonary Function Lab helps those suffering with lung conditions

Nov. 20, 2012

Flagstaff Medical Center’s Pulmonary Function Lab provides diagnostic testing for various lung conditions including asthma, bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and emphysema. The state-of-the-art Pulmonary Function Lab makes diagnosing lung disease easier and helps patients get treatment started earlier. Pulmonary function tests are non-invasive and are designed to show the therapist how much air is moving in and out of the lungs, as well as how well each patient is responding to treatment. The FMC’s Pulmonary Function Lab is staffed by specially trained respiratory therapists, who are experienced in pulmonary function testing and also able to educate about lung conditions.

FMC’s Pulmonary Function Lab is accredited by the American Thoracic Society, the largest pulmonary professional society in North America. FMC is one of 500 Pulmonary Function Labs in the United States to have this voluntary accreditation. The American Thoracic Society sets the standards for pulmonary function testing worldwide. The accreditation allows the lab to confirm and maintain top-quality standards for pulmonary function studies.
