Free diabetes and heart screenings at Winslow Library - July 16

Winslow residents now have access to free diabetes and heart screenings through the Northern Arizona Diabetes – Heart Connection and Diabetes Together programs. The free screening is scheduled 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Tuesday, July 16 at the Winslow Library, 420 W. Gilmore St. No appointment is necessary.  For more information, call 928-853-0879.

Screenings include diabetes risk test, blood pressure, blood glucose, cholesterol (Total, HDL, LDL, triglyceride), height, weight and results consultation with a healthcare professional.
Heart Connection and Diabetes Together are community-based programs sponsored by Flagstaff Medical Center, North Country HealthCare, Native Americans for Community Action, Flagstaff YMCA and many other organizations.

The program is funded by a $158,160 grant from the AstraZeneca HealthCare Foundation. This is the second consecutive year FMC has received a grant from the Foundation, receiving a total of $325,560. The grant was awarded through the Foundation’s Connections for Cardiovascular HealthSM program and will be used to fund the Northern Arizona Diabetes – Heart Connection screening and education program. FMC is one of only 22 organizations nationwide to receive funding this year through the Connections for Cardiovascular HealthSM program. The program supports innovative work in the field of cardiovascular health.
