FMC, United Blood Services and Flagstaff Symphony kick off holiday blood drive

Nov. 17, 2008

In an effort to increase donations, anyone who donates blood through United Blood Services during the week of Nov. 17 - 30, will receive a free ticket to one of the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra performances this season. The Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra will give a performance at Flagstaff Medical Center from 1 - 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 19 in the Dining Room. Musicians will serenade FMC staff and patients with holiday music at the launch United Blood Service’s annual Thanksgiving blood drive. The symphony donated the tickets and members have donated their time.

Because Thanksgiving is the longest extended holiday weekend of the year, there often are more motor vehicle accidents and a greater need than other times of the year for blood donations. As we celebrate our health and well-being with family, it is important to remember that patients are relying on a plentiful blood supply so they can celebrate another holiday with their families as well.  For a complete list participating blood drives or an appointment to donate, call 1-877-448-GIVE (4483) toll-free or visit UnitedBloodServices.org.
