Some newborn babies require a little extra special care when they are born. Flagstaff Medical Center’s Special Care Nursery provides these babies with sensitive care and continuing support for critically ill newborn infants. Any child who spent time in any intensive care nursery at birth, along with immediate family, are invited to a free picnic in their honor Saturday, June 13. The picnic also recognizes FMC’s Special Care Nursery staff members and gives them the opportunity to see how some of the smallest patients have grown from year to year.
FMC’s 2009 Special Care Nursery Reunion Picnic will be held at Marshall Elementary School, 850 N. Bonito St., from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Activities will feature games, prizes, clowns, music and more. The Guardian Air helicopter, will land near the school for children and their families to see close up. The Flagstaff Fire Department’s ladder truck and Guardian Medical Transport’s monster ambulance will be there as well. Picnic food and activities are for any child who has spent time in any special care nursery, as well as their brothers, sisters and parents.
