February Heart Month Events in Flagstaff

In celebration of American Heart Month in February, Flagstaff Medical Center (FMC), the Heart & Vascular Center of Northern Arizona (HVCNA) and local businesses are sponsoring several free heart-healthy events throughout the month. The events will feature lectures and discussions with HVCNA cardiologists as well as fun activities to create awareness and interest in heart health.

Heart Talk at the ArtWalk - Feb. 4
Friday, Feb. 4 – Heart Talk at the ArtWalk, 6 – 8 p.m., The Old Town Shops, 120 N. Leroux. As a part of Flagstaff’s First Friday ArtWalk, the evening will showcase “Heart Art” created by local artists. Attendees also will have the opportunity to participate in a meet-and-greet with HVCNA cardiologists.

Dance for Heart Health - Feb. 11
Friday, Feb. 11 – Dance for Heart Health, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., FMC Dining Room, 1200 N. Beaver St. Free dance lessons and open dance with the Northern Arizona University Swing Dance Club. Couples, singles and all ages welcome. Dancing helps improve the ability to do everyday activities; increases energy, stamina and strength; and is a source of great fun.
 
Benefits of Red Wine for Heart Health - Feb. 16
Wednesday, Feb. 16 – Benefits of Red Wine for Heart Health, 6 – 8 p.m., Tinderbox Annex, 34 S. San Francisco St. HVCNA cardiologists will discuss the heart-health benefits of red wine and will be available for one-on-one conversations about other heart health topics.
 
What Your “Jeans” Say About You - Feb. 17
Thursday, Feb. 17 – What Your “Jeans” Say About You, 6 – 7:30 p.m., Dillard’s Ladies Wear Department in the Flagstaff Mall, 4700 N. Highway 89. Interventional Cardiologist Omar Wani, M.D., will present a lecture on how your body shape can relate to heart health. The event will include jeans modeling and a jeans consultation with the denim experts from Dillard’s.
