Flagstaff Medical Center and the City of Flagstaff are hosting a community discussion on healthcare at 5:30 p.m., Dec. 30 at the Flagstaff Aquaplex. The discussion is part of a nationwide series of forums designed to provide input to president-elect Barack Obama’s Transition Health Policy Team.
The Presidential Transitional Health Policy Team said on its Web site: “As we work to revamp our healthcare system, we need to hear from you. It is out of our collective wisdom and experience that we will identify potential solutions to the many healthcare challenges that we face.”
FMC and the City answered a request issued nationally last week by Tom Daschle, newly nominated Secretary for Health and Human Services, to volunteer to host a community forum.
"We have teamed with the City to host this forum because we believe it is important that the citizens of our community have an opportunity to express their views on healthcare to the Obama administration," said Bill Bradel, FMC president.
City of Flagstaff Mayor Sara Presler concurred. "This is an opportunity for our community to have a voice in this nationwide conversation on healthcare. Recognizing the value of leadership and partnership, FMC and the City are working together to organize this event in what we hope will result in a better future for healthcare for our citizens," Presler said.
