FMC’s Sheri Yeider receives 2012 Caring for Children Award
Sheri Yeider, M.S.W., I.T.M.H., a social worker at Flagstaff Medical Center recently was awarded the 2012 Caring for Children Award from the Coconino Coalition for Children and Youth. The award was given in recognition of her contributions to children and families through early education, clinical support, grant funding and child abuse prevention efforts.
The Caring for Children Award is presented to someone who provides direct services to children and youth in Coconino County and who strives to make the community a better place for our youngest members. Yeider was recognized by the organization for the passion she has for her work and for the difference she has made in the lives of children in Coconino County.
Yeider has a master’s degree in social work and an advanced clinical degree in infant toddler mental health. She is the parent educator and group facilitator in FMC’s Women and Infants’ Center. She has been instrumental in organizing Mom to Mom support groups, Postpartum Adjustment groups and First Steps and Born to Read programs offered through FMC’s Women and Infants’ Center. She has written multiple grants to gain funding for early education, support and child abuse prevention programs for parents, caregivers, healthcare providers and the community.
