Cath Lab

Diagnostic and interventional coronary and peripheral arterial procedures are performed in the Cath Labs. FMC's Cath Lab utilizes the latest in technology - the Allura Xper FD20 system from Philips Medical Systems. 

The Cath Lab team consists of board-certified cardiologists, specialty-trained nurses and radiologic technicians. The same staff members care for patients before and during a procedure. The staff is committed to working cooperatively with the patient and the family to provide individualized care.

Interventional Procedures

Interventional Cardiology focuses on the catheter-based treatment of structural heart diseases. A large number of procedures can be performed in the heart and vascular (veins and arteries) system through minimally invasive procedures performed in a Catheterizaton Lab.

These minimally invasive procedures most often involve the insertion of a catheter (hollow tube) into the femoral artery in the upper leg. The catheter is guided toward the heart or vascular area through the use of real-time X-ray.
