Intensive Care Unit


The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) provides a high standard of care utilizing state-of-the-art technology, and has 30 private patient rooms.



The ICU staff has special training to provide compassionate care while utilizing advanced-care equipment. The patient’s needs are our top priority. Staffing ratios are one nurse to every two patients or one nurse to every patient, depending upon patient acuity. Our highly trained staff gives the patient and the family quality care around the clock.

Multi-specialty capabilities
FMC’s Intensive Care Unit provides care to patients for injuries related to:

    • Trauma
    • Pulmonary disease
    • Cardiac conditions
    • Renal problems
    • Other acute conditions requiring intense care 
    • Neurosurgery

Specialized medical care:

  • Marquette monitoring system — system monitors test results, oxygen saturation and blood pressure
  • Dräger medical ventilators and oscillators — help facilitate breathing for respiratory patients
  • Codman intercranial pressure monitor equipment — measures pressure on the brain after traumatic head injury
  • Alaris smart pumps are designed to decrease medication errors by supporting nurse's decision making abilities at the point of care
  • Cerner — computerized patient record system that fully supports all patient care functions for charting, managing orders and analyzing data
  • CRRT — The patient receives slow, continuous dialysis. This therapy is ideal for trauma and septic patients.
