Cardiac Health and Fitness
The Cardiac Health & Fitness Program
provides a wide range of comprehensive services to cardiac and pulmonary
patients, and those interested in reducing their risk factors for heart
disease. Designed to support the physical, emotional and social needs
of patients and their families, the program offers a continuum of care
to patients in the Verde Valley, including Camp Verde, Clarkdale,
Cornville, Cottonwood, Jerome, Lake Montezuma, Rimrock, Sedona, and the
Village of Oak Creek.
Team approach to quality care
The cardiovascular/pulmonary health &
fitness staff includes a team of highly specialized professionals from
several healthcare disciplines.
This healthcare team works together to help cardiac and pulmonary
patients return to an optimal level of wellness as quickly and safely as
possible. These include the referring physician, pharmacists, physical
therapists, registered nurses and exercise physiologists, respiratory
therapists, dietitian and social workers.
The program
All patients enter the program through
physician referral and prescription. A graded exercise stress test
(either a treadmill or stress echo) is required prior to scheduling the
evaluation and as a precursor to formulating the exercise prescription.
Patients are carefully interviewed and assessed to determine their
placement. The referring physician will receive monthly reports to
remain updated on the progress of their patients. The referring
